DIY Free Printable Seed Packets
Seeds are so many things. In An Invisible Orchard, A Natural History of Seeds, Jonathan Silverton book explains: “The story of seeds, in a nutshell, is a tale of evolution. From the tiny sesame that we sprinkle on our bagels to the forty-five-pound double coconut borne by the coco de mer tree, seeds are a perpetual reminder of the complexity and diversity of life on earth.”
The title of a National Geographic article, written by Simon Worrall, is also a quippy summary of seeds: “How Little Seeds Shaped Human History in Big Ways.” They’re amazing bundles, comprised of a tiny plant and all the things a plant needs to grow and successfully continue the circle of life. Where would we be without seeds?
We are inextricably intertwined with seeds. Put into words, seeds represent growth, food, nature, beginnings, potential, hope, nourishment, inspiration, time, provision, cycles, reproduction, trust, possibility and so much more.
Harvesting, saving and planting seeds puts us into the mix with nature, ourselves, our food, and each other.
No wonder seeds capture our imagination, compel many of us to save them to the point of hoarding, and inspire us, each of us, to grow.
These Grow What You Love seed packets are more than a helpful way to organize seeds or to wrap them up as a gift to share with others. For me, they’re a fun reminder of the good things in life. When we pass along seeds from season to season and person to person we’re really passing along this notion of potential. The seeds we cherish and grow remind us of the complexity of life and also its simplicity. From these often tiny vessels come big things: Ideas, inspiration, food, hope, growth, and love.
All the good stuff of life wrapped up into a neat little package – an investment in my future and yours. I hope you enjoy them as much as me. ;)
Grow what you love and pass it on.
