Time for Lunch
These cosmos starts were ready for “lunch” at least 2 weeks ago. At least in my mind they were. But I didn’t get around to transplanting them back then and they have continued to grow contentedly. Honestly, cosmos are like the wrinkle free shirt of the garden. Carefree and no fuss. You can start them in nearly any soil with confidence or simply let them reseed themselves once established.
Cosmos will flower from frost to frost with a bit of care. I plan to move these starts into 4 inch pots while waiting for our last frost – then it will be time for their dinner in the garden.
*Once a set of blooms have past prune back approximately 2/3 of the stem down to the nearest branching point, add a healthy snack of compost, worm castings or other favorite and ready for another round of playful splendor — a full season of flowering.
